Rules: Four-Ball Match Play (Better Ball)
In this format, two partners play as a side, each playing their own ball. The team score for the hole is the lower net score of the two partners.

How to Calculate the Playing Handicaps:
Drop to Scratch:
Identify the player with the lowest adjusted handicap. That player drops to 0 strokes (scratch).

Distribute the Shots:
Subtract that lowest handicap from the other three players’ adjusted handicaps. Those players receive the resulting number of strokes, taken off the Stroke Index (SI) lines on the scorecard.

Example:
Player A has a handicap of 4
Player B has a handicap of 8
Player C has a handicap of 12
Player D has a handicap of 27

Player A is the lowest marker and goes to 0.
Player B gets 4 strokes (8 – 4) on Stroke Index holes 1–4.
Player C gets 8 strokes (12 – 4) on Stroke Index holes 1–8.
Player D gets 23 strokes (27 – 4) on Stroke Index holes 1–18 (getting 2 strokes on SI 1 to 5).

Key Rules of Play for Four-Ball:
Order of Play:
The side furthest from the hole always plays first. However, partners on the same team can play in whatever order they choose to maximize strategy (e.g., if Player B is closer but has a safe par putt, they can putt before Player A to relieve pressure).
Concessions:
You can concede a stroke, a hole, or the entire match at any time. If an opponent concedes your putt, your ball is considered holed.
No Need to Finish:
If your partner already has a net par secured, and you are looking at a net bogey, you can pick up your ball to save time.
