The Pohlman Matchplay final was played today as we were not sure we could accommodate the massive crowds expected on the course for this enthralling and prestigious annual event!
Dave Doyle and Steve Vennell were the two finalists who have seen off all challengers in the earlier rounds of the matchplay. It promised to be an exciting final. Here is Dave and Steve ready to tee off on the first hole:

After 9 exciting holes Steve was 2 up and looked in control. But after another 7 holes the match was all tied up with 2 to play! Dave won number 17 with a clutch chip and putt for a par. On the last hole it all came down to the final putts. Steve very narrowly missed his after an excellent stroke, but then Dave putted his tricky downhiller from about 5 feet to win the hole and take out the match and trophy 2 up! The crowd went wild!! lol Well, Scott Cooper and I enjoyed watching the match the whole way!
